Auto Remove Trigger Product with Auto Add to Cart
complete

It would be great if the app could automatically remove the trigger product from the cart when the conditions for adding a free gift (or other promotions) are no longer met. Currently, the app adds the product based on specific conditions but does not remove it if those conditions are not fulfilled anymore. This can lead to customer confusion and frustration since the free product may remain in the cart even after the qualifying product has been removed. Implementing this feature would improve user experience and ensure that customers only see the accurate contents of their cart.

We are almost done with this feature.
I spent most of Sunday night and Monday morning adding automated tests for the auto-add-to-cart functionality, to verify it works as intended in every case.
In addition to auto-added items being removed when the conditions are no longer met, excess amounts of auto-added items will also be removed. For example, if your logic adds 2 of the item to the cart, but the customer has 2, 1 will be removed. Not only that, but the "Test discounts" page will work with auto add to cart discounts now.
The only thing preventing us from releasing this is an issue I encountered when testing this on my development store.
On one of my computers, Shopify is giving me a 429 error when trying to auto add the items to the cart. It works on my other computer. Most likely, while testing this, the app tried one too many times to add items to the cart, so Shopify's rate limits kicked into place.
There is no indication or documentation on how long it will take the 429 to go away, but once it's gone and I can verify the auto add to cart continues to work as intend, I will release this feature.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

In addition, auto-added items will be excluded from the conditions for logic. For example, if your logic automatically adds items to the cart when the subtotal is $100 or greater, auto added items will not count towards that 100.

very important for me. Otherwise the user can buy products for free

David Asal: Hi there, I'm not sure what you mean by this. The auto add to cart functionality is divided into two parts:
- One part that adds items to the cart (and will eventually remove them if conditions are not met)
- One part that applies the discount
The part that applies the discount will only do so if the conditions are met as well.... Therefore, it will not give a customer a free item if they are not eligible to get one. They will just end up with an extra full-priced item in the cart.
If you are having issues with an item becoming free when you didn't expect, please send a screenshot of your discount logic, and a screenshot of the items in the cart, to our support team.
Thanks,
Tobe

Tobe Osakwe The thing is: you make a rule where products are getting added automatically to the cart and are for free based on any condition. But once the condition is no longer met, the free products added are still there. therefore the possibility exists, that the user gets products for free by meeting the conditions/trigger in the beginning and then removing the triggers but still gets all the free stuff.

David Asal Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. I want to assure you that our system doesn't allow products to be obtained for free unless the specified conditions are continuously met. When the cart contents change, Shopify recalculates discounts. So, if the conditions are no longer met, the discount will not be applied, and any unqualified items would revert to full price in the cart.
We understand the importance of clear cart updates and are planning to enhance this feature to automatically remove unqualified items. We are currently handling a high volume of requests, and we appreciate your patience as we work to implement these improvements. Meanwhile, if you encounter any discrepancies, please provide screenshots via our support chat so we can investigate promptly.
Thanks for your understanding.

Raphael Dumortier: Hi Keith,
Thank you for your comment. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don’t work as expected, and we’re truly sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
Currently, we are experiencing a very high volume of requests and have limited resources, which means it will take us some time to address your concerns. Unfortunately, we do not have an estimated time for resolution at this moment, but please know that your issue is important to us.
We appreciate your patience during this time.
Best regards,
