Discounting the Next Highest Priced Item in Get Y Discounts

It would be great if the app could allow for discounts on the next highest priced item in the cart during 'Get Y' discount offers. Presently, the only options available are applying discounts to the cheapest, most expensive, or the first item, which doesn’t support effective BOGO promotions where customers expect discounts on the next items down the line. Implementing this feature would align our offerings with customer expectations and improve the shopping experience across diverse product ranges.

If we were to implement this into our app, it would probably be a new "Advanced option" in the "What order to apply discounts to products in" settings: https://regiostech.crisp.help/en/article/controlling-what-order-to-apply-discounts-to-products-in-1ljnqzj/
For example, after choosing "Highest priced products first," you'd have the option to "Apply to every Nth item," and then input. This way, after sorting the items from highest to lowest, the app would then swap the position of the 3rd-highest-priced-item with that of the 2nd, the 5th with the 4th, and so forth.
However, due to the significant complexity involved in a change like this and currently low demand, we are going to have to wait until we receive more similar requests before committing to implement this. Otherwise, we risk making the app confusing to use and understand.
Thanks for your understanding,
Tobe

Tobe Osakwe I really don’t think this type of setting would be to confusing to understand, I personally am not very intelligent and can completely understand. I also don’t think the risk of some customers being confused outweighs the incredible benefits of this being implemented. You may not be getting many requests for this feature because many potential customers are not even downloading your app because such a feature is not included. I can guarantee if this feature was available many more stores would add your app specifically for just that. A buy 1 get 1 sale can only work properly this way and Shopify is lacking it! This is the standard application of a BOGO, the other two options make significantly less sense. For example if you discount the lowest products(using your same example) the $30 and $20 items would be discounted, so the customer would just separate the purchase into two different transactions(the $50 and $40 and then $30 and $20), this is the same outcome however causes the customer more hassle, and leaves us looking less technologically professional. Sometimes have to manually adjust the shipping per a customers request since the orders would ship together being placed back to back. And discounting the highest price item is completely illogical for most retail stores, as a customer could by a $3 item and get a $600 item free with out setting up significantly more restrictions/limits in comparison to the feature being requested. For POS stores like ours simply have to resort to manually discounting the appropriate items, this takes longer and risked employees making errors. I would highly suggest implementing this feature and making it a primary advertised feature in the Shopify App Store.
